In the state of Washington, if the move is 55 miles and under, it is priced on an hourly basis, if the move is 56 miles and over , then the move is priced by weight and distance. The moving company is required to have a commission operating authority (permit) to operate. The mover must comply with the state insurance, safety, and service standards. The mover must place their HG # on their vehicles, Bills of ladings, and with any type of advertising.
One important thing to remember is that you make sure your local mover carries workers compensation insurance and the proper licensing on equipment and vehicles.
