HAWAII INTRASTATE MOVING RULES AND REGULATIONS
Hawaii’s Public Utilities Commission regulates Hawaii’s local and intra-state household moving. The moving company is in charge of publishing a tariff and the tariff is filed and regulated by the HPSC. This tariff outlines all of the services and charges for the movers, and the HPSC holds all movers in the state of Hawaii responsible for following by their published rates, policies, and procedures as set forth by the commission.
A moving company must have a PUC # displayed on the trucks. Local movers can charge an hourly rate or flat rate on the move as long as it is published in their tariff.
