Connecticut Department of Transportation regulates Connecticuts’s Intrastate Moving.
Connecticut Moving Rules and Regulations
The Connecticut Department of Transportation regulates Intra-State household goods moving in Connecticut. The moving company is in charge of publishing a tariff and the tariff is filed and regulated by the Department of Transportation. This tariff outlines all of the services and charges for the movers and the CDOT holds all movers in the state of Connecticut responsible for following by their published rates, policies, and procedures set forth by the commission.
In Connecticut, any move within the state is considered an intrastate move. Most movers will charge on an hourly basis stated in their tariff. All licensed movers must have a certificate to operate and have their C# on their vehicles to perform local moves. Additional charges may include packing, stairs, piano, shuttles, etc. All local movers charge a fuel surcharge in addition to their regular charges.
One important thing to remember is that you make sure your local mover carries workers compensation insurance and the proper licensing on equipment and vehicles.
If you have any questions on licensed movers, or licensing or want to view a mover’s published tariff, you may call:
