A quote is an important part of the moving process. Whether your moving interstate, international or just cross the street from your house, a good moving company should give you a Free, Professional and cost effective quote for their services and the estimated time of completion. You should speak with at least 3 to 4 companies and get estimates for the service they provide so that you have multiple companies to compare Moving Quotes with. They can typically be accomplished online and should not take long.
Moving Quotes – Onsite Estimates
Once you’ve chosen a company to work with for your move it’s time to request an on-site estimate. It is probably best to work with local movers because they’ll be familiar with the area and would be able to provide this service. In most states, movers can’t charge for a written estimate by law and remember that the estimate is not binding. The estimates will vary greatly depending on if you live in the city or the countryside, how much distance would they be covering, is your new place easily accessible and so on. The on-site inspection should take a short amount of time, so make sure you book multiple on-site inspections on the same day.
Moving Quotes- Binding and Non-Binding Estimates
There are two types of Estimates. Binding and Non-Binding. In a binding estimate, you will not be required to pay more than what is stated in the amount unless you decide to purchase additional services. You will also not be required to pay ahead of delivery. The mover, however, will reserve the right to keep the items in storage if it is not paid for on delivery. If they are delivering a car or an automobile, they may also charge a daily fee for storing the car until the amount is resolved. In a non-binding estimate, you will be required to make payment upfront before the movers begin the process. This way you would not have to worry about payment on delivery. A “Not to Exceed” quote can also be issued which will guarantee that the amount does not exceed the estimated amount.
